What is Faith Victory Kenya (Orphans, Water, Hunger)?

Located in Kenya, East Africa, Faith Victory is currently working to care and educate orphans who have lost their parents (through AIDs and other causes), to meet their physical needs, helping them enjoy a positive view of life, and...who can, thereafter, provide support for themselves, and for future orphans.  Focusing on hunger, water and housing to care for these remarkable children.

Background

In a country devastated by HIV/AIDS, many children are left without parents and thus they have no place to go but the streets and resort to theft, robbery, drugs and/or prostitution just to survive. Unfortunately, this leads to the cycle repeating itself.  The goal of this initiative is aid in breaking that cycle by building, furnishing, and staffing a boarding house for 100 children.

HIV/AIDS Statistics

  • People living with AIDS, worldwide: 42 million
  • People who have died from AIDS-related diseases: 200 million
  • Orphaned due to AIDS: 14 million
  • New cases of HIV/AIDS infections daily: 14,000
  • Children under 15 with AIDS, daily: 2,000
  • Children under 15, dying yearly from AIDS: 15,000
  • The virus will kill more people over the next 10 years than all the wars and disasters of the past 50 years.
  • The virus has reduced life expectancy in sub-Saharan Africa from 62 years to 47 years.
  • In some African countries, up to half of all new mothers will die of AIDS.
